About the Retreat:
Having PMDD can feel debilitating; the ups and downs of our cycles can disrupt our lives and significantly affect our quality of life. Through mindfulness and the practice of meditation, we connect with the essence of our true selves: Loving Awareness, that part of us all that witnesses our lives, remaining constant and compassionate through it all. And it becomes possible to create space between ourselves and our experiences, easing our suffering, and allowing for deep inner work to take place.
Retreat Description:
On this day-long retreat, the deep inner work will take the form of writing letters to our future selves, from one phase of our cycles to the next, creating a dialogue between present and future and cultivating compassion for ourselves.
Everything that happens to us is an opportunity to go deeper within, soften to our experiences, and learn about our hearts.
Arrive as you are and be welcomed by your community for a day of retreat, deep rest, and inner exploration.
What to Expect:
🧘 Guided, silent, and walking meditation practices
✉️ Letter to future you writing exercise - when we are suffering with PMDD, it can feel like it will last forever, even when we know it is cyclical. Through writing letters to our future selves, we can remember that what we are feeling will change, and we may find compassion awaken for our present situation. As well, if we are at a high point in our cycle, we may be able to offer comfort and wisdom to our future selves who may be suffering at a lower point.
How to Prepare:
🥗 Meal and snack prep - we will be breaking for a meal halfway through, in which we practice mindful eating. Please prepare something nourishing and yummy beforehand.
🧸 Set up a cozy space for yourself - cushions, blankets, pillows, etc. And dress comfortably.
📝 Bring some paper and something to write with.
