Support

The power of peer support is incredible, and we know just how important it is to be able to reach out and speak with others who understand Premenstrual Disorders. International Association of Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD) Support is available in several ways, all free and accessible.

You're not alone—join a community below and be part of a supportive space.

Since our founding over a decade ago, IAPMD has supported over 1.5 million individuals across one hundred countries, offering evidence-based information, connection, and hope. As a longstanding force in the PMDD and PME space, our early and sustained efforts have helped shape understanding, inform care, and build community, working toward a world where those affected by PMDs don’t just survive but truly thrive.

🫶 Peer support is the #1 rated form of emotional support by those living with premenstrual disorders (PMDs).

🧠 1 in 3 people with PMDD and/or PME report no mental health provider who understands premenstrual disorders (PMDs).

What are the benefits of peer support?

Peer support is an increasingly recognized, evidence-informed tool that complements traditional medical and mental health care. For those living with PMDD or related conditions, connecting with others who truly get it can provide a powerful sense of validation and belonging.

Engaging in peer support can reduce feelings of isolation, boost self-esteem, and empower individuals by sharing coping strategies and lived experiences. It also helps improve knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about managing symptoms, fostering greater confidence and a sense of control.

While peer support is not a replacement for clinical care or therapy, it offers something uniquely valuable: emotional and psychological support from someone who’s walked a similar path. Though more PMDD-specific research is needed, peer support is increasingly being acknowledged as a meaningful and effective layer of care.

Sometimes nothing beats talking face-to-face with others who truly understand. Led by trained IAPMD Peer Support Facilitators with lived experience of PMDD or PME, these sessions provide a compassionate and supportive space for individuals to give and receive understanding, validation, and hope.

Reddit Support Groups

Reddit (r/PMDD) is a social media platform that allows anonymous, community-driven conversation. The r/PMDD subreddit is a non-IAPMD moderated and supportive space where you can ask questions, share experiences, and give or receive support—all without needing to reveal your real identity.

For partners and loved ones looking to better understand PMDD and offer meaningful support, IAPMD’s PMDD Partners (r/PMDDPartners) provide tailored guidance, articles, and downloadable tools. Whether you're navigating a relationship, parenting, or friendship affected by PMDD, this hub was created to help you feel more informed, empowered, and connected.

Inspire Non-Social Media Support Group

Inspire is an online forum designed for those who aren’t on social media or prefer more anonymous conversations. It’s a moderated, supportive space where you can ask questions, share experiences, and give or receive support safely.

📌 The app is available on Apple and Android.

Transgender Support Group

Transgender individuals with PMDD often do not receive the support that they need and deserve. Anyone who has an ovary/ovaries can have PMDs (Premenstrual Disorders). At IAPMD, we are committed to providing peer support, education, and advocacy for all individuals living with PMDD/PME regardless of gender identity or expression. We believe no one should go through this journey alone, and we are here to support you in all the groups above.

Additionally, there is a non-IAPMD-moderated group on Facebook that you may want to join as well.

Lastly, Trans Lifeline is a peer support and crisis hotline run by Trans people for the Trans, Nonbinary, Agender, and Questioning community. Call 1-877-565-8860 in the US or 1-877-330-6366 in Canada.

In Crisis? You're Not Alone.

At IAPMD, we believe that no one should have to face premenstrual disorders alone. While we provide information and community support, we are not a crisis service and cannot offer professional mental health care.
