Event Description:

Do you feel overwhelmed by the emotional intensity of PMDD?

This four-week series offers a grounded, compassionate pathway toward relief. Through acceptance, mindful awareness, self-compassion, and breathwork, you’ll learn practical tools to move through your cycle with greater steadiness and self-understanding. Rather than trying to “fix” PMDD, this series supports you in changing your relationship to it, so that your emotions feel less consuming and your month feels more manageable.

🌿February 4 - Week 1: Acceptance for PMDD
In this session, we draw on principles from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), both of which demonstrate that approaching internal experiences with openness and non-judgment can reduce distress and support more adaptive coping.

Participants will learn how acceptance is not passive or equivalent to “giving up,” but a skills-based shift that increases psychological flexibility, enhances clarity, and creates space for more grounded decision-making.

👁 February 11 - Week 2: Becoming the Observer
This session emphasizes developing the “observer perspective,” a core component of ACT and mindfulness-based interventions. Through guided exercises, you’ll practice noticing thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations as events in the mind and body rather than facts or threats.

Research shows that this shift reduces reactivity, decreases rumination, and creates a buffer that helps interrupt spiralling patterns commonly experienced during PMDD symptoms.

💙 February 18 - Week 3: Self-Compassion for PMDD

With acceptance and awareness in place, we turn toward gentleness. Inspired by Dr. Kristin Neff’s research, we’ll explore the three pillars of self-compassion. We’ll practice techniques that help you respond to difficult moments the way you would to someone you love: with warmth, understanding, and care.

🌬 February 25 - Week 4: Breathwork for PMDD

In this session, we'll focus on breathing techniques as a practical and accessible tool. Research shows that specific forms of controlled breathing can reduce physiological arousal, support autonomic balance, and improve emotional regulation. These skills are particularly relevant during PMDD-related mood and stress fluctuations.

Across four weeks, this program weaves together an empowering approach to navigating PMDD.

Intended Audience: Those seeking greater balance, meaningful support, and a stronger connection to self, we welcome you to join us!

Hosted by: Amy is the founder of The Feminine Rhythm, where she supports women in navigating the challenges of PMDD through an integrative and deeply compassionate approach. Drawing from her own lived experience with PMDD, Amy weaves together the modalities that have been most effective for emotional and hormonal well-being.

Her work focuses on helping women reconnect with their natural rhythm, reclaim their sense of empowerment, and rebuild self-love after years of self-doubt or self-rejection.

Amy has spent significant time in the East studying philosophies and practices that bridge Western psychological understanding with Eastern wisdom, allowing her to offer a holistic and accessible approach to PMDD support.

She is passionate about increasing global awareness around menstrual wellbeing and ensuring women feel seen, understood, and supported on their healing journey.

A recording will be provided for all registered participants. However, live attendance is encouraged to allow for real-time reflection and facilitated support.

This session will not be added to the digital library. Registration prior to the event date is required to receive access to the recording.

Thanks to the generous support of the Christina Bohn Foundation, we’re able to offer a limited number of complimentary tickets to help make this event accessible to everyone who wishes to join. Please reach out to events@iapmd.org for more information.
