Event Description:

The objective of this webinar is to explore the application of a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-informed treatment model for PMDD, as described in our recent peer-reviewed paper (Oliveri et al., 2025). Participants will learn how integrating DBT principles through trauma-informed frameworks can support improved outcomes for individuals living with PMDD, across both individual and group treatment settings.

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the theoretical rationale for adapting DBT to the treatment of PMDD.

  • Identify key DBT principles most relevant to PMDD and outline how they can be applied in clinical practice.

  • Recognise the role of feminist and trauma-informed principles in supporting those living with PMDD.

Please note: This webinar does not cover DBT skills training. For participants already familiar with DBT, this session will provide practical ideas for applying DBT principles to PMDD. For those without prior DBT experience, skill-based DBT training would be required to apply it in clinical practice.

Intended Audience:

This webinar is designed for mental health clinicians, medical providers, and allied health professionals seeking a deeper understanding of PMDD. It is especially relevant for those working in women’s health, psychiatry, psychology, primary care, and trauma-informed practice.

Aimee Oliveri is an Australian clinical psychologist and founder of Flourishing Women Psychology. She works with women and those assigned female at birth, providing evidence-based care with a focus on Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD).

Drawing on both theory and clinical experience, Aimee co-developed the first Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-informed treatment model for PMDD alongside clinical psychologist Sharryn Muir. The model integrates core DBT principles with feminist and trauma-informed perspectives, offering a comprehensive framework for understanding and supporting those living with PMDD.

Aimee is also a passionate advocate for the critical role mental health professionals play in treating PMDD and is dedicated to creating spaces where Australian clinicians who treat PMDD can connect, learn, and access peer supervision and support.
