The International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD) is a nonprofit organization aiming to advance awareness and education about premenstrual disorders, such as PMDD.
One of our key mandates is to arm clinicians with the most up-to-date information for the timely and appropriate diagnosis and treatment of premenstrual disorders. In light of this goal, we have organized the following event for professionals, trainees, and the general public interested in discussions that are clinical in nature.
Binge Eating and Hormones: What's the Connection?
We invite you to join Dr. Klump as she shares key findings from her research to help us better understand how hormonal changes may impact eating behaviors.
In this session, you'll learn:
How fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone throughout the menstrual cycle may increase the risk of binge eating for some people.
Why the mid-luteal phase (the time after ovulation and before your period) may be the most vulnerable point in the cycle.
How genetics may help explain why some individuals are more affected than others.
Dr. Kelly L. Klump is an MSU Foundation Endowed Professor of Psychology at Michigan State University. Her research focuses on understanding how genetics and hormones, especially changes across the menstrual cycle, can increase the risk for eating disorders like binge eating. She uses both twin studies and animal models to explore how these biological factors impact people differently over time. Dr. Klump has published more than 300 scientific papers and leads several federally funded research projects in this area.
Please note: Eventbrite has decided not to implement in-app purchases for paid online events. This means tickets must be purchased from a web browser on desktop or mobile. We apologize for the inconvenience.
