11. Harassment

IAPMD prohibits harassment if any kind and will take appropriate and immediate action in response to complaints or knowledge of violations of this policy. For purposes of this policy, harassment is any verbal or physical conduct designed to threaten, intimidate or coerce an employee, co-worker or any person working for or volunteering on behalf of IAPMD. Verbal taunting (including racial and ethnic slurs) is included in the definition of harassment.

The following examples of harassment are intended to be guidelines and are not exclusive when determining whether there has been a violation of this policy:

  • Verbal harassment includes comments that are offensive or unwelcome regarding a person’s nationality, origin, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, body, disability or appearance, including epithets, slurs and negative stereotyping.

  • Nonverbal harassment includes distribution, display or discussion of any written or graphic material that ridicules, denigrates, insults, belittles or shows hostility, aversion or disrespect toward an individual or group because of national origin, race, color, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy, appearance, disability, sexual identity, marital or other protected status.

  • Ignoring a member, employee, volunteer, or vendor's request to cease communications via electronic or written means after a clear and concise request has been made.

Harassment of any kind will result in the loss of use and access to the IAPMD website, social media, and Facebook groups. If you feel you are being harassed by a fellow member or IAPMD employee, contractor, or volunteer please contact us immediately here.

12. Complaint Process

IAPMD will courteously treat any person who invokes this complaint procedure, and the company will handle all complaints swiftly and confidentially to the extent possible in light of the need to take appropriate corrective action. Lodging a complaint will in no way be used against an employee, volunteer, or member or have an adverse impact on an individual’s status with the organization. Because of the damaging nature of harassment to the victims, aggrieved employees, volunteers, and members are strongly urged to use this procedure. However, filing groundless or malicious complaints is an abuse of this policy and will be treated as a violation. Repeated abuse will result in the loss of use and access to the IAPMD website and social media. Please submit complaints here and your submission will be investigated within seven ( 7 ) business days.

IAPMD treats all communication, whether electronic or otherwise with strict confidentiality. By using this website and our social media accounts the user agrees to allow for reasonable action when self-harm or immediate danger has been indicated, by whatever means possible. This may include contacting the local authorities for a wellness check or local emergency service. Peer support requests are shared with IAPMD staff and peer support volunteers to improve the quality of service and seamless continuation of support. Please see our privacy policy for more information.
