Working with Premenstrual Disorders: Evidence-Based Psychological Approaches and the CYCLES Practitioner Framework

Led by Dr. Helena Tucker, an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in hormonal mental health, this session will provide an overview of the CYCLES Framework to apply evidence-based psychological approaches to PMDD and PME.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the core clinical features of PMDD and PME, including cyclical symptom patterns, luteal emotional dysregulation, shame and self-blame, identity disruption, and relational impact.

  • Describe what evidence-based psychological approaches (CBT, DBT, ACT, CFT and mindfulness-based approaches) each offer for these clinical features.

  • Outline the CYCLES Menstrual and Hormone-Informed Practitioner Framework and how it structures these approaches into a coherent, cycle-informed approach to working with premenstrual disorders.
